Our cup of tea ....

Tea began as a medicine and grew into a beverage. In China, in the eighth century, it entered the realm of poetry as one of the polite amusements. The fifteenth century saw Japan ennoble it into a religion of aestheticism--Teaism. Teaism is a cult founded on the adoration of the beautiful among the sordid facts of everyday existence. It inculcates purity and harmony, the mystery of mutual charity, the romanticism of the social order. It is essentially a worship of the Imperfect, as it is a tender attempt to accomplish something possible in this impossible thing we know as life.
- Kakuzo Okakura, The Book of Tea

We at the studio love our tea and make it an afternoon ritual to pause and share a pot - especially on these chilly days when the soul is in need of a warm hug.  Below - a collection
of our favourite teas of the moment along with some teaware that we currently covet...

01 Earl Grey Imperial tea ~ Harney + Sons  |  02  Karen's favourite tea pot ~ Japanese cast iron tea pot   |  03 Golden Peach tea ~ Tealish   |   04 Black ceramic tea cups ~ Clementine Dupre   |   05 Genmaicha Green Tea ~ Traditional Japanese tea   |   06  Minimalist tea kettle    |   07  Japanese creamer + sugar ~ Sfera   |   08  Toasty Almond tea ~ Tealish   |   09  Joelle's favourite tea pot ~ Jasper Morrison

And on those days when you're feeling under the weather, this one soothes  many aliments
and might even lift your spirits ....

Ginger Tea, Fresh Juice for Life

There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony  known as afternoon tea.

Parisian LOVE ...

We've recently come across the work of the Parisian design team - Gilles & Bossier.  We LOVE LOVE the unique mix of classic, contemporary and industrial pieces in their Parisian apartment below - the contrast between the clean white interior, peppered with black and gold accents and the reclaimed wood paneling is just stunning!  To view more of this firm's work - check them out here.

Cabin fever

It's definitely cold outside these days and we all seem to be craving a cozy winter retreat.  Not all of us can escape to a beautiful little cabin in Aspen or a chalet tucked away in the woods .... but one can dream - right?  Below are some of the places we'd like to run away to right now.

WC’s 2013 Design Resolutions

1.       Mindful  Design:  We believe in always designing consciously,  being respectful to our clients budgets and not over designing spaces. (Photo: The Hive, Toronto Office. Designed by WilliamsCraig Inc)

2.       Stay Curious:  We crave daily inspiration at the WC studio and find it very important it to stay on top of new materials & new product.  (photo: current inspiration from our pinterest)

3.       Edit Your Space: We know it’s hard to get rid of your favourite knickknacks but January is the perfect time to purge your space! As a result you will instantly feel lighter.

4.       Stay Organized: As creative types we always need a little reminder to keep our space organized once in a while.

5.       Stay True To What You Love: Make your space a reflection of who you are or what your brand is. At the end of the day you need to impress yourself! (Photo: The Hive, Toronto Office. Designed by WilliamsCraig Inc)
